Bridgend Library and Information Service provides public book lending and information services to the 128,000 residents of Bridgend County Borough, South Wales.
The service is provided through:
13 branch libraries, a mobile library, Cyberlink and a central Reference and Information Centre.

Ideal for Research and Homework
Members of Bridgend Library and Information Service can now access free-of-charge these useful databases from home or work. All you need is a valid Bridgend Libraries card.

Search for articles from the first 200 years of the world's greatest newspaper using The Times Digital Archive 1785-1985.

Britannica Online is the classic encyclopaedia containing 123,000 up-to-the-minute articles.


It is also available in two special editions, Britannica Junior for ages 5-11 and Britannica Student for ages 12-18.

KnowUK contains information from over 100 quality reference sources about the people, places and organisations of the UK.

NewsUK is a searchable full-text version database of newspapers and journals from 1991 to date.

OED Online is the searchable version of the greatest dictionary of the English language, the Oxford English Dictionary.
National Year of Reading in Wales 2008

The National Year of reading in Wales will be launched at an official ceremony at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on 13th March. Throughout the year people of all ages across Wales will be encouraged to take part in events and activities to celebrate reading of all formats. Check out the National Year of Reading in Wales website which will keep you up to date with what is going on in your area.

Temporary Closure
This library will be closed between Saturday 1st March and Tuesday 10th June (inclusive). It will reopen at 09.30 on Wednesday 11th June.

Reserve Collection - Open!
For the first time Bridgend Library and Information Service's Reserve Collection of books is open to the public.
The serious book-lover is welcome to come and browse through the collection of over 100,000 fiction and non-fiction books, which has been developed over many years.

Bavalinc

BAVALINC (Bridgend and Vale Libraries in the Community) is a partnership of library services that operate within the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend County Borough Council areas. Established in February 2003, BAVALINC currently encompasses 30 individual service points including public, further education, independent college and postgraduate college libraries.
Cobwebs

The Cobwebs site at www.cobwebs.uk.net is your online guide to local clubs, societies and organisations within the Bridgend borough. All types of local groups can be found here, along with contact details and other useful information. It is an online searchable database. Cobwebs also offer support for non profit organisations in Bridgend to build their own quality community group websites.
