What is Bridgend Register Office?

Bridgend Register Office holds a number of registers that record local births, deaths and marriages dating all the way back to 1837.

So why might I need to get a copy of a certificate?

There are lots of things that you might need to get copies of a certificate for, such as:

applying for a passport

attaching documents to a CV

making an insurance claim

What else do people use these records for?

People also use register office records for things like tracing family trees or researching local history. The Bridgend Register Office can help you with all of this and often gets enquires from all over the world.

How do I go about obtaining copies of certificates?

First of all, you will need to tell the Bridgend Register office the following for each certificate you require:

the name of the person (and in the case of a marriage, the name of their partner)

the date of the event

the place of birth or death

if a marriage, the name of the church

Does it cost anything to get a copy of a certificate?
